PHYSICIANS : Richard A. Mathe, MD
| Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Richard Mathe obtained his undergraduate degree in 1975 from Duke University, where he distinguished himself by achieving dean’s list three years and graduating magna cum laude. He attended the Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1979, and performed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Madigan Army Medical Center. Fulfilling requirements for the US Army Medical training program, Dr. Mathe then spent 2 years at the R.W. Bliss Army Community Hospital in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, where he served as Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine. Fellowship training in Cardiology brought him to Colorado in 1984, where he began at FitzSimons Army Medical Center. In 1986, Dr. Mathe was named Director of Noninvasive Cardiology and in 1987 Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. He began private practice in 1988 and joined South Denver Cardiology Associates in 1991. He has served as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory since 1993 and is past-chairman of the Heart Sections of Swedish Medical Center and the Porter-Swedish Combined Medical Staff Heart Section. Dr. Mathe is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Mathe is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He specializes in Interventional Cardiology. He is married with two children, and enjoys skiing and biking. |  |
