Denver Cardiologists Supports Fight For Air Climb Program

Keeping your lungs healthy is essential for your well being. And perhaps the best way to maintain your lung health is regular cardiovascular exercise. That’s why our Denver cardiologists at South Denver Cardiology always recommend great new ways to get some exercise! If one of you New Year resolutions is to workout, have we got an event for you!
The American Lung Association, an organization that works hard to promote cardiovascular health and exercise, will be holding its annual Fight For Air Climb.
Fight For Air Climb is not only a huge fundraising event for the American Lung Association, but also a fun opportunity for everyone to get a great workout and improve their lung and heart health. The event is held in over 65 cities and features thousands of participants running up stairs in stadiums or skyscrapers. People participate as individuals or in groups to run up hundreds of stairs. Last year alone, Fight For Air Climb events raised over $7 million! That money goes towards lung health education, research, and disease treatment.
Here in Denver, the Fight For Air Climb will be on February 22, 2015. It will be held at Republic Plaza. Rising 714 feet, Republic Plaza is Denver’s tallest building. So, you can expect your lungs and your heart to get a healthy workout!
The health benefits of stair climbing are widely acknowledged. It benefits cardiovascular health and the musculoskeletal system, and it can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity, strokes, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes. With the Fight For Air Climb, not only can you do good for your cardiovascular health, you can also raise money for others.
