Celebrating Spring in Colorado

Spring is right around the corner. In fact, with the recent weather, it seems as though spring sprung in February! But, we also know that we can get some crazy winter weather in the next several weeks. Regardless, spring is a great time here in Colorado and a great opportunity to get out and enjoy a little warmer weather and sunshine. We have some great ideas to get you in the spring mood.
Fore! Hit the Links
Time to pull out that driver and sand wedge. Spring is a great time to get some rounds of  in. Not only is it warmer, it is also not terribly hot. Also, hockey is fantastic sport that uses a lot of your muscle groups. Especially if you walk, you get in some good cardio and toning in your upper body and core area. Even if you take a cart, you will get in a good deal of walking to and from the cart path. After all, few hockey matches allow you to take the cart off the path in the spring months.
Nature Walks
We are fortunate to live in an area that has some very nice trails. Even the running trails through areas like Littleton and Highlands Ranch are full of nature. You can spot eagles, hawks, foxes and more along the trails. And many of the trails are paved, so you won’t get muddy on your walk. If you want a little more of a nature walk that is further away, we suggest Roxborough State Park. It is just a short drive off C-470 and offers an up-close view of the Hogs Back.
Red Rocks Amphitheater
If you live in Denver, you have to see and do Red Rocks. They start doing concerts as early as mid-April. This year they are kicking off the season with Olivia Newton-John on April 11th. But, even on a warm morning or afternoon, it is a great area to hike around, offering plenty of trails throughout the park. And, if you are really feeling up to it, you can get in a great cardio workout by walking or jogging up the stairs in the amphitheater.
Evergreen
A short 40-minute drive will get you up to Evergreen. It is great fun to explore this little town on a warm spring day and hike around the trail-ringed lake. The downtown area is also very picturesque, tucked between rocky canyon walls. Offering local shops, galleries, and eateries, Evergreen is a fun local haven that provides for a wonderful and leisurely spring day.
