The traditional Cardiac Rehab at South Denver Cardiology was founded in 1977 and is synonymous with total cardiac wellness and is proud to be recognized by the national accrediting body in cardiac rehab, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Adding the Pritikin program takes Cardiac Rehab to the next level of excellence in health care and wellness.
Pritikin ICRTM is based on the Pritikin Program which has been taught to more than 100,000 individuals for over 40 years at the Pritikin Longevity Center. More than 100 peer-reviewed, published studies, performed by UCLA medical researchers, have established the program’s remarkable results.
Patients can attend 72 Pritikin ICRTM sessions, providing them with more resources and education to carry out a healthy lifestyle than they receive in ordinary Cardiac Rehab (CR), which is typically 36 sessions primarily focused on exercise.
About Pritikin Programs
The Pritikin Program emphasizes exercise, a healthy mindset, and an eating plan focused on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, lean meat, nonfat dairy, and protein-rich plant foods like legumes, or beans. Today, the Pritikin Program is taught at the Pritikin Longevity Center, a health and wellness resort in Miami, Florida, and in hospitals or clinics providing outpatient programs licensed in a number states throughout the country.

Which patients qualify for CMS reimbursement of ICR?
If you have experienced one or more of the following events, and have not yet
begun Medicare-reimbursed CR after their most recent event, you qualify for Pritikin ICR.
*Acute myocardial infarction (within the preceding 12 months)
*Coronary artery bypass surgery
*Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty or stenting procedure
*Current stable angina pectoris
*Systolic Heart Failure
*Heart or heart-lung transplant
*Heart valve repair or replacement
ICR is also approved for reimbursement by many commercial insurance companies.
